The CVHS Newsletter, Issue #1: Fall 2026

Oct–Dec 2026 · Chippewa Valley Handyman Services · Eau Claire & the Chippewa Valley

Welcome to our very first newsletter!

Hi neighbor, and welcome to the very first Chippewa Valley Handyman Services newsletter! I'm Dave, and I'm excited to send a short note like this each season with a little news, a handy tip, and what's happening around the Valley.

Business recap: last quarter (Jul–Sep 2026)

  • A website refresh. Our site, cvhsllc.com, has been around since 2023, and on October 4 it got a fresh new look, with a page for each specialty, Photos and Reviews pages, and an online estimate form with photo upload.
  • Sharing our work. In late September we started posting regularly on Facebook and X, and job photos are going up on our Google Business Profile too.
  • Thank you! As of Oct 2026, CVHS has a 5.0-star rating across 125 reviews, including 107 on Google.
  • By the numbers: This summer we wrapped up 34 jobs across the Chippewa Valley, from deck rebuilds to faucets, storm doors, and drywall.
  • Homes are still our core: Most of those 34 jobs were for homeowners across the Valley, and that's not changing.
  • Commercial work: We picked up a couple of commercial customers this summer and have already finished jobs for them.
  • Property management: We added another property management client, and it's bringing us steady work.

Where we're headed

  • Newsletter signup is live: know someone who'd like these notes? They can sign up at the bottom of any page on cvhsllc.com.
  • Same focus: mailboxes, storm doors, faucets/spigots, light fixtures/ceiling fans, drywall repair, plus general handyman work. Fall and winter are a great time for indoor projects.
  • Booking now: Need something done before the year ends? We're almost booked through late November and are now scheduling December jobs, so grab your spot before they're gone.

Seasonal tip: test your smoke and CO alarms

With the windows shut and the furnace running, press the test button on every smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. If one chirps or stays quiet, swap the battery and test again. Check the date on the back too: alarms wear out, and the label will say when to replace it.

Local services reminders

  • Eau Claire Green Waste Facility (5710 Jeffers Rd.): Mon and Wed 10–6, Sat 8–3. Typically open until mid-November, weather permitting.
  • Eau Claire alternate-side parking: Nov 1–May 1, midnight–7 a.m. Park on the side whose addresses match the date (odd or even).
  • Chippewa Falls Yard Waste Site (5 Bjork-Riverside Dr.): weekdays 7–2:45 until the first snowfall; 2nd and 4th Saturdays through the second Saturday in November. Leaves don't go in the street or alley.
  • Chippewa Falls winter parking: Nov 15–Mar 31, no parking on city streets over 30 minutes between 2 and 6 a.m., unless posted.
  • Chippewa Falls holidays: recycling runs one day late in Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. Tree drop-off at the Yard Waste Site starts Dec 26.

A common question: why do drywall cracks and nail pops show up in winter?

Usually it's just the house moving a little. When the heat comes on and the air dries out, wood framing shrinks slightly, which can push out drywall nails or open hairline cracks at seams and corners. Small ones are cosmetic and easy to patch; a crack that keeps growing, or doors that suddenly won't latch, is worth having someone look at.

Got a question about your home? Send it to contact@cvhsllc.com and we may answer it in a future issue.

Around the Valley (Oct–Dec 2026)

  • Halloween trick-or-treating: Downtown Chippewa Falls is Fri, Oct 30, 3–5 p.m. (look for posters at participating businesses). Downtown Eau Claire is Sat, Oct 31, 3–5 p.m. on North & South Barstow Streets. Neighborhood hours are set by each city, so check yours. Last year most ran about 5 to 7:30 p.m. Leave a porch light on, clear the steps and walk, and add a reflector or flashlight to costumes once it gets dark.
  • Christmas Village in Irvine Park: Thanksgiving Day (Nov 26) through Jan 1, Chippewa Falls. Free holiday lights to walk or drive through.
  • Clearwater Winter Parade: Fri, Dec 4, 6:30–8 p.m., downtown Eau Claire. The city's annual holiday parade.
  • Winter Daze Holiday Event & Parade: Thu, Dec 10, 4–8 p.m., downtown Menomonie. Wagon rides, Santa, and a 6:30 p.m. parade.

Details can change, so check with the city or organizer before you go.
